What has the Spirit of God filled you with?

Exodus 31:1-6a, ESV

The Lord said to Moses, “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft. And behold, I have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan.

Exodus 35:30-34, ESV

Then Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft. And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan.

Exodus 37:1a, 10a, 17a, 25a, 29a, ESV

Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood…He also made the table of acacia wood…He also made the lampstand of pure gold…He made the altar of incense of acacia wood…He made the holy anointing oil also, 

And this goes on and on throughout Exodus 38 and 39. 

I’d venture to say that most people have never heard of Bezalel. He’s not the hero of the Bible we were taught about in Sunday school or children’s church.

But oh was he ever a hero.

He was chosen. 

He was filled with the Spirit of God.

He taught and led others.

And he was catalytic to the building of the tabernacle—the first formal place of worship for God's people.

The skills God filled him with to build the tabernacle were not lesser than the skills of those who were called to minister in that tabernacle—they were equally vital.

The skills God has filled you with by His Spirit are not lesser than the skills God has given someone else. All God-given skills are equally vital in His kingdom (1 Corinthians 12).

What God has filled you with is catalytic for some part of the worship of God and the building of His kingdom.

So what has the Spirit of God filled you with? And how can you use that skill to contribute to the place of worship (the local church) and contribute to the building of this kingdom (the Church)?

Oh Lord, thank You that You fill your children (every single one of us) with gifts and skills according to the work of Your Spirit within us. Show us how and where to use the gifts you’ve placed inside of us to build your Church. Amen.
