Daniel 9:3, NKJV
Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.
In biblical narrative, to set one’s face signifies an internal posture of determination and resolve.
2 Chronicles 20:3, ESV
Then Jehoshaphat was afraid and set his face to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
Luke 9:51, ESV
When the days drew near for him [Jesus] to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.
Nothing we do on behalf of the Kingdom of God—not even our seeking of God—will happen without determination and resolve.
We will only spend quiet time with God if we set our face to do so.
We will only read our Bible regularly if we set our face to do so.
We will only accomplish a fast if we set our face to do so.
We will only impact the people around us if we set our face to do so.
So, let’s set our faces.
As the Lord began to drop this 60-Day Revival Challenge into my heart last month, it was as if I was hearing Him whisper these words to His people:
What are you willing to give me to see what I have for you?
These are words He’s whispered to me over and over again throughout the last decades of my life. So, whatever it is He’s asking from you, let me just say this: IT’S WORTH IT.
We will never regret the sacrifices we make to seek the Lord.
So, let’s make our New Year’s resolution—our New Year’s resolve—be to seek God like never before.
