"One Day" Moments

Genesis 18:1b-2, 10a, NLT

One day Abraham was sitting at the entrance to his tent during the hottest part of the day. He looked up and noticed three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he ran to meet them and welcomed them, bowing low to the ground.

…

Then one of them said, “I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!”

The Bible is full of “one day” moments—that one day when everything changed.

That one day when:

• God showed up and told Abraham the promise was at hand

• Joseph was called upon in prison to interpret the dream of pharaoh

• Samuel showed up to anoint David

• David arrived at the front lines just in time to overhear the giant

And on and on and on.

That one day when:

• An angel showed up to a young girl named Mary

There are moments in our lives which change the trajectory of our lives—“one day” moments when a calling is revealed, the wait is over, the promise is fulfilled.

But here’s the thing about “one day moments”—they are dependent upon all the days before them.

• Abraham’s fulfilled promise of offspring would never have happened if he wouldn’t have chosen obedience.

• Joseph would never have been called upon to interpret pharaohs' dreams if he hadn’t been proven faithful in his previous seasons.

• David would never have been anointed had he not been a man after God's own heart.

• Mary would never have been chosen if she had not found favor with God.

So, precious saint, keep walking it out. 

Keep doing the day. 

Stay faithful. 

And never lose hope. 

One day the next step will be revealed.

One day the wait will be over.

One day the promise will be fulfilled.

That day is coming—and that day depends on this one.
