Lean into Grace

2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭‭9,‬ ‭ESV‬‬

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

‭‭

We have to learn to lean into the grace of God.

When we face circumstances in which we feel weak and insufficient, our flesh wants to push back. We often exhaust ourselves in every way, trying to handle things without grace.

It’s not something we do consciously, it’s something we do subconsciously. We will live in a state of toiling—oftentimes toiling of the mind—in order to walk in our own abilities, strategies, resources, etc., sometimes for days or weeks before we even realize we’re doing it.

It’s human nature.

But God wants to grow us in our spiritual nature.

When we realize that we’re toiling in our flesh, and gaining no ground, then that’s when we need to purposefully choose to lean into the supernatural grace of God.

When we buck against grace, we miss the supernatural. But when we lean into it, we experience the all-sufficient power of God.

When we lean into the grace of God we experience the power of God.

And there’s nothing like it.

Nothing we create or muster up on our own can even compare to the power of God resting on us, working for us, working within us, and working through us.

We must learn to lean into grace.

Oh Lord, thank you for the grace you promise to bestow upon us abundantly. Help us to be quick to lean into that grace rather than spend days, months, or even years living in a state of toil and turmoil while we try to do things in our own strength. Amen.
