Matthew 6:11

Give us today our daily bread.

Jesus instructed us to pray today for our daily bread.

But most of us would be more comfortable if we had tomorrow’s bread, and maybe the next day's bread, today too.

Why?

Because it makes us feel safe.

It makes us feel safe to think that we have what we’ll need tomorrow, today.

Of course we want to be wise and do our best to plan for tomorrow, but we have to remember that when we only have today’s needs met today—finances, strength, provision, direction, grace, understanding—then that leaves us reliant on God tomorrow too.
