Are You Living What You Were Created For?

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬, ‭ESV‬‬

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Human beings were created with a few inherent needs which actually direct—and affect—our entire lives:

  1. Our need for God.

  2. Our need for people.

  3. Our need to do good works.

If you know God and are connected to people—but there is still something missing in your life—then it’s very likely that your need to do good works is going unnoticed and/or unfulfilled.

Because we were created to do good works.

This is where our experiences and interests and gifts and talents all come together in the places God plants us to serve others and show the people around us who He is.

This is where the earthly meets the heavenly.

This is where meaning comes to the mundane.

This is where life comes to life.

You’re not in that job just to do a good job—or that neighborhood or team or Zumba class. You’re there on mission as Christ’s ambassador. Every conversation you have could be fertilizing the soil of someone’s heart. Or planting a seed. Or watering a seed that has already been planted.

Even parenthood and grandparenthood. Our job is not simply to raise well-rounded, healthy human beings, our job is to disciple them—to raise well-rounded, spiritually healthy human beings.

That interest or gift or talent you have, how are you stewarding it to serve others and show them who Jesus is?

When we live life this way, and stop separating the secular from the spiritual, life becomes an adventure. But we’ll only live this way if we do so intentionally—and if we invite God into it. We have to ask God to open our eyes to see people through His eyes and to open our ears to hear people through His ears. We can ask Him to open the door for conversations which we can bring Him into, and we can ask Him for creative ideas to use what He’s given us to partner with Him to build the kingdom of God.

Wherever you are, you’re there on mission. Callings shift and change throughout life, but our mission remains the same—to bring as many people to Heaven with us as we can.

This is what we were created for.
