Don’t Complain about the Darkness, Light it Up

Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭14‬-‭16,‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

John 8:12, ESV

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Complaining about the darkness around us does it no good. We must light it up.

We live in a time of great spiritual darkness—and, equally as true, we live in a time of great spiritual light. Revival is lighting up the world against the backdrop of great darkness.

The greater the darkness, the brighter the light.

This seems like such an elementary spiritual principle, but I believe it’s something we all need to be reminded of in this moment—for the purpose of encouragement and zeal.

If a light is shone in an already lit room, it has no effect on that space. But if a light is shone in a dark room, it completely changes the atmosphere of that space.

So, if you feel alone in the dark places you’re planted today (your neighborhood, school, place of work, etc.), then be encouraged in this—you’re positioned there to light it up!

It’s time we stop complaining about being put in dark places, and realize we’re stationed in them to light them up.
